First of the Gang to die

Rick Wright, the man behind magical keyboards of Pink Floyd has passed away yesterday after a short battle with cancer.

As a founding member of Sigma 6 and later Pink Floyd, he has been there since the beginning. Thru physedelic ages and fall of Syd, experimental era of Ummagumma and rise of concept albums, hostile times of Roger Waters and final era. He was always there behind the keyboards. Personally, I believe his heyday coincides with Pink Floyd's. It was during the period that started with Meddle and ended with The Wall. Roger Waters' genuity would not work if Wright had not provided him and the band that magical cloud of sounds to walk over. You would understand what I mean when you listen to Echoes (possibly the best song ever made), Great Gig in the Sky, Shine on You Crazy Diamond. His ego-less personality might have left him outside the spotlight, but I suspect that was what he wanted anyway.

This sad news will also bring the rumors of Pink Floyd reunion to an end.

I hope he is in the Great Gig in the Sky now.
